I heard a great analogy from Nikki Depalma, IMS Resource Teachers from the Division of Teaching and Learning for Orange County Public Schools, FL. I was in one of her trainings and she referred to SAFARI Montage’s Learning Object Repository (LOR) as Florida’s favorite grocery store, Publix. For those of you not residing in the Southeastern part of the US, Publix is a mainstay and a beacon of civilization. One can find almost anything in their immaculate aisles, in addition to the expected in their renowned bakery, deli, and produce sections. Ms. Depalma alluded to a teacher’s playlists and lessons as grocery lists and recipes from which teachers would pick out the digital materials they needed from our LOR (aka Publix).
Lavar Burton of Reading Rainbow fame, stopped by to say hi and see what was new at SAFARI Montage, the platform through which thousands of teachers share Reading Rainbow shows with their students each year.
I never cease to be amazed by the dedication of hard working teachers, like those at Lee County Schools in Florida. This past week my colleagues and I spent two days with 400 teachers from across the district and vendors of digital content, such as Compass and HMH, which is being housed in the SAFARI Montage Learning Object Repository (LOR) through IMS Global Common Cartridge.
Join us at ISTE 2016 to learn how school districts around the country are embracing personalized learning to address the unique needs and interests of teachers and students. One challenge in personalized learning is providing high quality instructional resources that can ensure an equitable and sustainable learning environment. In this session, join Dr. Tim Clark and leaders from school districts across the U.S. to explore strategies for curating digital resources within a Learning Object Repository (LOR) as a foundation for personalized learning.
