Symptoms

 On OS X 10.6 ("Snow Leopard"):

Inactive Plug-in” appears when attempting a CreationStation or CMC/Kiosk upload.

On OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and OS X 10.8 ("Mountain Lion"):

Missing Plug-in” appears when attempting a CreationStation or CMC/Kiosk upload.

Cause

On October 18, 2012, Apple released OS X updates that proactively disable and/or remove Java on OS X 10.6, 10.7, and 10.8.

Solution

On OS X 10.6:

Re-enable Java Applets

Method 1: Re-enable the Java applet by clicking the applet region labeled "Inactive plug-in".

Method 2: If the Java applet cannot be re-enabled directly on the web page, re-enable Java applets in Java Preferences: 

  1. Navigate to Go > Utilities > Java Preferences > General tab.
  2. Check “Enable applet plug-in and Web Start applications” at the top of the window shown below.

 

 

 

On OS X 10.7 and 10.8:

Install the latest version of Java 7 applet plug-in from Oracle by clicking on the region labeled 'missing plug-in' of using the link below.
