  • The media player may not appear if Video Player is set to SAFARI Montage Media Player
  • Loss of video and/or audio during playback if Video Player is set to QuickTime

Cause

Changes to OS X 10.6, Apple® Safari® browser, and the updated QuickTime X require configuration adjustments below.

Solution

Recommended:
Set SAFARI Montage Media Player as the default Video Player, and set the Apple Safari web browser to run in 32-bit mode.

  1. Set your default video player to SAFARI Montage Media Player in either “Preferences” or “Schools.”
  2. Set the Apple Safari web browser to 32-bit mode.
    1. Locate and click the Safari web browser icon in the Applications folder.
    2. Perform a “Get Info” on the Safari web browser application.
    3. Check the “Open in 32-bit mode” option and close the window.
  3. Launch Safari and access SAFARI Montage.

Alternative:
Install QuickTime 7 and use Mozilla® Firefox® web browser.

  1. Insert the Mac OS X 10.6 install DVD into your system.
  2. Browse the DVD and locate the “Optional Installs” folder.
  3. Install QuickTime 7 by double clicking the icon.
  4. After installation, open Firefox and navigate to a playable QuickTime file in SAFARI Montage.
  5. Begin playing the file and click the full-screen button.
  6. When prompted, select “Open With” and choose “QuickTime 7” from the Applications folder.
