Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD was looking for an easy-to-use digital media solution prior to becoming a SAFARI Montage customer in early 2011. “We had just opened our Career and Technology Center, which has a Radio/TV/Broadcast Journalism area,” says Kirk Murdock, EM-S ISD’s Director of Technology. While he describes the SAFARI Montage implementation as still in its infancy, Murdock says the system is being used well beyond the basic video-on-demand function.
And, after the exhibit floor opened, it didn't take long for the crowds to start forming. Carolyn Faulkner-Beitzel, SAFARI Montage Curriculum Director, is presenting SAFARI Montage and Digital Curriculum Presenter to attendees throughout the conference.
Prior to implementing the SAFARI Montage system, Allen ISD was using school-based media retrieval systems. That was back in 2006, and David Spann, AISD’s Executive Director of Technology, says that the district set its sights on a centralized digital media system. “The goal was to streamline, and with SAFARI Montage, we no longer have a need to put VCRs or DVD players in all of our classrooms,” he explains, adding, “The content on SAFARI Montage opened up a lot of avenues for our teachers.”
Virtually every school district in the country has been forced to accept the "new normal" of working with fewer staff and resources, while still needing to deliver services to teachers and students to support instruction and learning. If this sounds familiar to you and you are looking for solutions to the growing number of challenges you are facing, watch the recording of this ISTE session now on YouTube, ISTE 2011: Adapt to Budget Cuts with Technology.
